2014 Was a Record-Breaking Year

2014 was a good year for Winthrop.  Both sales tax revenue and hotel-motel tax revenue were at all-time highs.  Below is the year-over-year increases both these funds have seen over the past 10 years.  Note that the percentage increases shown on the charts are against the Town of Winthrop's budget. 

Sales tax revenue was 2% higher than the year previous and hotel-motel tax was 10% higher than the year previous. Over the past 10 years there has been substantial growth in both these funds.

Sales tax revenue funds a large portion of the town's operations.  Hotel-motel tax income funds Winthrop's marketing efforts and some operations of town-owned tourism facilities such as the Barn and the Ice Rink.
