Facebook Ideas for Business

An Emergency Facebook Declaration...

Not to poke fun at emergency declarations, but some of the local business Facebook messaging going out about our area is hampering our ability to attract visitors.

Facebook is very powerful, and it is even more powerful when a community speaks as one over the short-term and long-term. Remember, most people are planning trips in the future so the messaging we share now impacts future visits.

Please take a moment to consider the following ideas BEFORE you make a Facebook post for your business:
  1. Ask yourself before you post:  Does this post help to bring people to my business or to our area?
  2. Ask yourself again before you post:  Does this post really entice people to visit my business or our area?  Is there anything at all inappropriate about the post?
  3. Are you including a photo or link that makes people want to visit your business or visit our area. Is the photo compelling? Is it highlighting the best of what you offer? Examples: people enjoying themselves (good), a picture of a product you sell (good), people enjoying themselves with your product (great!), smoke column (not good).  If you cannot include a good photo I would recommend you do not post at all. Text posts may imply that you don't want to show what you have to offer, they are very unlikely to be read and have almost no chance of being shared.
  4. Are you posting your personal feelings or a story which is not relevant to your business or the efforts of our area to bring back customers. Save your personal stories for your personal Facebook page, not your business page. Don't mingle the two.
  5. Finally, have someone else look at your post before you publish it and have them review items 1-4.
I am more than happy to provide insights or ideas for your business posts at any time. Feel free to call me!

All the best,
Kristen
